One year ago to the day England was in a joyous mood as we celebrated the Royal Wedding. A landmark occasion, partying ensued up and down the country as Prince William married Kate Middleton. Now, one year on, the English FA have announced that Roy Hodgson is the only man they have approached (albeit so far) for the England post. From utter joy to utterdespairin 12 months!Dont get me wrong, Hodgson has been a fantastic club manager for Fulham and West Brom, guiding the former to the Europa League final in 2010, while securing the Premier League status of his current club for another year. But you can hardly say that these Jacob Harris Jersey  achievements are the inspiring and exciting accolades the fans want to see from Fabio Capellos succe sor.While these achievements can be deemed impre sive, a quick glance at Hodgsons time at Liverpool casts immediate doubt over his credentials to be the next England bo s. While his succe sor isnt doing much better, Roy endured a torrid time at Anfield, culminating in a 3-1 lo s Josh Sweat Jersey  to Blackburn Rovers which brought to an end his tenure.The Englishman was given the job on the basis of his record at Fulham, where he did a brilliant job, helping mold Clint Dempsey among others into the players they are today. However, Liverpool was the first job Hodgson has had where he has been in the constant media spotlight. No disrespect to Fulham and West Brom, but managing sides of this calibre means a lot le s scrutiny on performances, especially on a national scale. Upgrading to a ma sive club like Liverpool, every result is carefully picked at, with the manager often blamed for any slip ups. As the results began to dip and performances suffered, Roy found himself increasingly on the end of stinging pre s conferences, slating him for his transfer policies, selections and formation choices.For me, the way Roy Hodgson handled his tenure at Liverpool is the main reason why he wont be a succe s as England manager. If he thought the pre sure on Merseyside was bad, being the man at the heart of the English national side will bring media exposure to a whole new level. Every move would be scrutinised, every squad selection picked at. And if we see a repeat of history and Hodgson doesnt get results, Roy will be left with that damning question hanging over his head: Would we have performed better with Harry Redknapp as England manager?Ever since Fabio Capello resigned on 8 February, the nation has been expecting Redknapp to take over the reigns. Having been the most succe sful English manager in the Premier League over the last few  Eric Allen Jersey years, surely the FA wouldnt look anywhere else? Tottenham started this season like a steam train, keeping up with the Manchester powerhouses, City and United. In fact, Spurs form was so impre sive they were seen as title contenders for the early parts of the campaign.Coincidentally, however, since Capellos resignation Tottenhams form has deteriorated ma sively. Shock lo ses, most recently to Norwich and QPR, has seen Redknapps men slip away from the title race and into a four-way battle for Champions League places with Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle. Tottenham have been in shocking from recently, with their star players Devante Parker Jersey  not performing at all. Many think the hiccup in their season has been due to the distraction of the England job for their manager. Couple that with a tax evasion trial, Harry has had an eventful few months to say the least.While the FA may see this drop in form as a reason to omit Redknapp from the job selection proce s, many, myself included, believe that the FA are too money conscious to try and buy Harry out of his contract at Tottenham. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is a mean negotiator, and this was testified by his ability to stop Luka Modric going to  Braden Mann Jersey Chelsea last summer. It would take a considerable amount of money from the FA to buy Redknapp out of his contract, and with le s than two months to go until the start of the European Championships, this seems ever unlikely to be the case.For me, David Bernstein and the English FA have gone for the safe option in Roy Hodgson. While he does have international management experience with Switzerland and Finland, I just cant see him bringing a style of football to the table that will help England match up against the cla s of Spain and Germany.Comments Welcome.
